Karen Woodside

As a former Wayne County Assistant prosecuting attorney, Karen Woodside served the People of Wayne County and the State of Michigan from 1988 until her retirement in 2009. She worked in the Juvenile Division doing trials, warrants, and then the Appellate Division where she argued and had cases in the District Courts, Circuit Courts, and US. District Courts, 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, to the US Supreme Court. Subsequently, she handled Extraditions, Parole Appeals, and Drug House Forfeitures in Special Operations.
Woodside served on the Northville Township Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and was elected Northville Township Supervisor in 1996-2000. She is experienced in Planning and Zoning, Municipal law, tax and labor law.
Woodside's background in criminal law, and her experience with elder law victims, was a natural progression in helping vulnerable adults.
She served 3 full terms on the State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness Committee, and was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court in 2004 to the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission where she has served two full terms as a Commissioner.
Woodside received the IAAI-MAPC Prosecutor of the Year-1996 for her "dedication, leadership and service to the people of the State of Michigan." She remains active in the community and regularly volunteers for numerous civic and religious causes.
Woodside is registered attorney with the VA and a participant in the ICLE Probate Law Certification program.
